The Canadian Patient Safety Institute, Accreditation Canada and the Canadian Home Care Association are pleased to announce that a research team led by Dr. Mark Fleming, Professor of Safety Culture at Saint Mary’s University, has been selected as the recipient of a $45,000 research grant.
A leading international expert in organizational safety and patient safety culture, Dr. Fleming’s research will further the study of safety culture within the domains of primary care and home care by aiming to answer the question: What can we learn from the patient/ client experience at the primary care/ home care interface that will help us improve safety? This study will explore care transitions between primary care and home care. Patient and family caregiver involvement in all aspects of the study will speak to the patient experience as the motivator for change.
The team’s final report will be available on our website after March 31, 2015.
