Speaker bios
Dr. Kim Corace
Dr. Kim Corace is the Director of Clinical Programming and Research in the Substance Use and Concurrent Disorders Program at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, an Associate Professor at University of Ottawa, a Clinical Investigator with the Institute of Mental Health Research, and a Clinical Health Psychologist. She has expertise in health behavior change, including how behaviour change theories can be used to guide and inform novel interventions to improve healthcare worker vaccination uptake and hand hygiene adherence. She works at local, regional, provincial, and national levels to develop, implement, and evaluate innovative interventions that lead to improved healthcare access and uptake for vulnerable populations, with a focus on developing collaborative hospital-community models of care.
Jignesh Padia
Jignesh Padia is a father of a 5-year-old boy, a husband and a passionate patient safety advocate. He was born and raised in India. He first move to Canada in 2005 and has lived in Scotland and England. He works for the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency and feels proud to have the opportunity to serve patients, families and staff in improving safety and reducing risks in every possible way. Jignesh is a certified Manager of Operational Excellence from American Society of Quality and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Jignesh joined Patients for Patient Safety Canada as a member in 2013. He also serves as a member on a local patient safety advisory committee with Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region. He is well known in his organization for creating an electronic reporting system. His long term dream is to work on a patient safety reporting kiosk where patients and visitors can report occurrences and near misses directly to their care team creating more robust partnership and improvement in health sector.
Cecilia Bloxom
Cecilia Bloxom, APR, ABC, is accredited in communications by both the Canadian Public Relations Society and the International Association of Business Communicators. As the senior director, strategic communications for CPSI, Cecilia is dedicated to the mission of safe healthcare for all Canadians.
Cecilia has worked in healthcare communications for ten years and joined CPSI from a senior role in public affairs at Capital Health, Edmonton area. She had the opportunity to work in acute care, rural care, geriatrics, rehab, long-term care, home care, supportive living, and public health. Cecilia is the executive lead on Canadian Patient Safety Week and the Co-Chair of Canada’s Virtual Forum on Patient Safety and Quality Improvement.
