Abigail Harrison
Associate Director, Digital and Innovation, Haelo
Abigail leads the Digital Communications and Innovation functions, developing and delivering the Haelo strategies for communications, evaluation and innovation. She has a wealth of experience in designing and testing innovative improvement programmes, undertaking 90 day innovation cycles and product development. Practically, Abigail has experience in managing project staff and third party commissions, balancing priorities in order to deliver varied projects including web and app development, training and workshops, development of measurement tools, building of resources, knowledge management, evaluation and data analysis. Abigail's previous role saw her in building systems for supporting all Haelo improvement programmes and the teams they work with in using data to measure improvement. She has developed a world class approach to measurement within Haelo, developing partnership with thought leaders and building in house expertise, technical skills, coaching and training.
Francine Thorpe
Director of Quality & Innovation, NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)
Francine is the Director of Quality & Innovation, NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). She is responsible for leading on improving the quality of commissioned services, supporting quality improvement in primary medical services and promoting innovation. Francine trained as a physiotherapist and progressed into leadership roles within the Allied Health Professions. Francine has worked within the Salford Health Care system for the whole of her career and has been involved in a broad range of programmes that have helped to shape the system in terms of integration and collaborative working.
Dr. G. Ross Baker
Professor, Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto
G. Ross Baker, Ph.D., is a professor in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto and Director of the MSc. Program in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. Ross is co-lead for a large quality improvement-training program in Ontario, IDEAS (improving and Driving Excellence Across Sectors). Recent research projects include a review and synthesis of evidence on factors linked to high performing healthcare systems, an analysis of why progress on patient safety has been slower than expected and an edited book of case studies on patient engagement strategies.
SHIFT to Safety
Ensuring patients are safe remains a major challenge for Canadian healthcare organisations and systems. The Canadian Patient Safety Institute's (CPSI) new initiative,
SHIFT to Safety, has been launched to address these challenges, including helping providers and leaders improve their measurement efforts.
