Common MRI-associated patient safety incidents involve gas cylinders, tools, scissors, IV poles, mop buckets, floor buffers and even laundry carts as projectile objects. However, this alert provides awareness that items implanted and imbedded within the patient may also cause harm. Patients at risk include those with cochlear implants, internal or external pacemakers, implantable infusion pumps, cerebral aneurysm clips, dental implants or prosthesis and even tattoos may experience safety incidents during an MRI. Please review the alert for more resources and further information. "
