This alert discusses the dosing errors when using an ultra-long-acting insulin as Tresiba®. Tresiba® FlexTouch® is available in two strengths – 100 units/mL and 200 units/mL. Users have been in doubt as to whether the number of devices should be halved or doubled when switching between Tresiba® FlexTouch® 100 units/mL and 200 units/mL. The dose in units should not be converted if there is a switch from one strength to another. The intelligent dose counter of the insulin pen is designed so that the number of units displayed in the dose counter window is the actual dose in units - regardless of the strength of Tresiba® FlexTouch®. That fact is reinforced in the recommendation for safe use of Tresiba® FlexTouch®.
