Dr. Olavo Fernandes is the Director of Pharmacy-Clinical, at the University Health Network; in this role, Olavo oversees the clinical pharmacy programs at four UHN hospitals as well as education, residency programs, clinical informatics, and drug information. Olavo is also an Assistant Professor at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto, and serves as the patient safety theme coordinator in the PharmD curriculum. From an education leadership perspective, Olavo is the Associate Director of the Centre for Interprofessional Education at the University of Toronto and also chairs the hospital-wide Interprofessional "Learner Experience Committee" which is focused on enhancing quality learning experiences for all health care professional learners. Olavo is currently also national co-chair of the Canadian National Clinical Pharmacy Key Performance Indicator Collaborative and the co-director of the Mount Sinai Hospital- UHN Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. His research and publication interests include Interprofessional medication reconciliation, pharmacy key performance indicators and evaluating the patient care impact of pharmacy practice.
