Senior Director, Strategic Communications
Cecilia Bloxom, MA, APR, ABC, FCPRS, is an award-winning senior PR practitioner with two decades of experience delivering strategic communication solutions.
Cecilia is accredited in communications by both the International Association of Business Communicators and the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS). In 2019, Cecilia was inducted into the College of Fellows of the CPRS, where she continues to mentor others, as well as speaking and writing about the value of effective public relations in Canada. All Fellows possess at least 20 years of professional experience and 10 years of Society involvement and show themselves as leaders in the public relations profession.
As the Senior Director, Strategic Communications for the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI), Cecilia and her team have won over 33 communication awards both nationally and internationally.
Cecilia joined CPSI from a senior role in public affairs at Capital Health, Edmonton area. With a Master of Arts in Leadership, a diploma in advertising and public relations and a degree in communications, majoring in public relations, Cecilia is a passionate communicator and believes fully in the profession of communications and public relations.
When not busy working, Cecilia is on the Board of Directors, serving as the current Past President of the Canadian Public Relations Society (Edmonton), current Director on the CPRS Foundation Board (formerly Communications + Public Relations Foundation), and past Director on the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts. Over the past ten years, Cecilia has shared advice, experience and guidance as a mentor to protégés in the CPRS mentorship program. Cecilia also chaired the Local Advisory Committee for the Canadian Public Relations Society National Conference, Evolving Expectations, welcoming over 300 delegates to Edmonton in June 2019.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Cecilia cherishes being a mother to her beautiful daughter and lives in the heart of Little Italy with her husband and standard poodle. Cecilia loves all things active including skiing and yoga and is very involved in transforming her community.
