As of March 31, 2018, the patient safety action plan has 33% of actions in progress and 67% of actions that are complete. As we transition the work of the Integrated Patient Safety Action Plan, CPSI will leverage Patient Safety Education Network advisors for evaluation of CPSI education programs.
The following Patient Safety Education action plan work will transition into the 2018-2019 fiscal year:
- The Patient Safety Culture Bundle for CEOs and Senior Leaders was launched on the CPSI SHIFT webpage in February. The Bundle (co-led by the CCHL, HealthcareCAN, and HIROC) was presented at multiple forums including but not limited to, CCHL local conversations, the Champions for Change in Vancouver, the BMJ conference in Amsterdam, the NHLC in St. John's, etc. CPSI aims to establish live links to tools and resources for each component listed within the Bundle. The Bundle is currently the most frequently sought resource on the CPSI website.
- The Hidden Curriculum initiative is led by the RCPSC and will soon be showcased within the SHIFT webpage. Due to the continued work, it has been transitioned to 2018-2019. The Hidden Curriculum's landing page will include tools and resources for the patient, clinicians and leaders to counter the Hidden Curriculum and ensure Safety Culture within the Healthcare work environment.
- The Curriculum Mapping initiative was co-led by SIMOne and a team of partners and stakeholders. The proposed curriculum requires continued work to simplify the framework and ensure its relevance for all parties involved. This project has been transitioned to 2018-2019.
- The Patient Engagement / Partnership in Curriculum initiative, led by PFPSC, was put on hold. The leads asked that this project was delayed pending the hiring of a CPSI librarian. This project has therefore also been transitioned to 2018-2019.
