Senior Program Manager
Markirit Armutlu joined CPSI in September 2017, as the Patient Safety Improvement Lead responsible for Academic Faculty Development, Incident Management, Peer to Peer Support for the Second Victim, and Quebec and Ontario Regional Relations.
Markirit has extensive experience in healthcare management, quality improvement and patient safety at the local, national and international level. Prior to joining CPSI, Markirit was the Director of Quality Assurance and Education with the Canadian Association of Radiologists, and the Director of the Healthcare Improvement SBU, responsible for all international advisory and education programs at Accreditation Canada International. From 2009-2015, Markirit was the Jewish General Hospital's (Montreal, QC) Quality Program Coordinator, responsible for continuous quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, accreditation, patient experience and performance. She was the Coordinator of Quality & Risk Management and course director for the Annual Symposium for Research and Quality Improvement from 2000-2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Montreal. From 1991-2000, Markirit was the Chief Occupational Therapy in Physical Medicine at St. Mary's Hospital.
She worked with the Quebec Health Ministry to develop their training program for members of risk management committees (2002-2006), and from 2002-2015 she was a ministerial trainer on the Functioning of Risk Management Committees and on Human Factors in Patient Safety. Markirit is a founding member of the Réseau pour l'amélioration continue de la qualité (RACQ), a Quebec Quality Network. From 2005-2013, Markirit was an active member of the Comité d'utilisateur SISSS working to help develop a provincial reporting system for healthcare related incidents and accidents, and from 2009-2015, Markirit was an active member of the Groupe vigilance pour la sécurité des soins, a patient safety advisory group to the Quebec Health Ministry.
Markirit has a long-standing passion for patient safety, having assumed the responsibilities for Regional Director for CPSI-Safer Healthcare Now! Quebec from 2009-2012, and National Safety Improvement Advisor for Safer Healthcare Now! from 2006-2009. Markirit is an Accreditation Canada Surveyor, a certified Patient Safety Officer (IHI), and is Lean-Six Sigma certified.
