Cheryl Harder currently works as an Improvement Education Consultant with the Quality Improvement & Patient Safety unit within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. Most recently she worked as a Staff Development Consultant within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba. She has 14 years experience in adult education and training in healthcare.
She recently received her green belt in Lean/Six Sigma. She is also certified as a facilitator for Inter-Personal Conflict Resolution, a certified coach in Organizational Performance coaching, and also is certified in PROSI Change Management methodologies.
Vision for patient safety in Canada:
My vision for patient safety is for Canada to be the leader and innovator in delivering safe patient care. We have a patient safety culture that emphasizes learning and continually shares this learning to increase patient safety. We have an emphasis on fairness and transparency and wide-spread collaboration and teamwork.
Vision for patient safety education in Canada:
My vision for patient safety education is that investment is made to ensure all people providing health care have a basic understanding of their role in patient safety. We have a culture where it is understood that patient safety involves us all. We share our patient safety learning about successes, challenges, and risks which contributes to safer health care for clients, families, and caregivers.
