As a Registered Nurse, Abigail’s clinical background has included practice in northern settings, the Canadian Armed Forces and in tertiary critical care/trauma care.
With a background in healthcare education for 15 years Abigail has contributed to curriculum development, education and clinical program innovations, simulation integration and professional development initiatives for interprofessional teams. Bringing hands-on experience with clinical improvement work, she co-chaired and was involved in various hospital-wide quality improvement and patient safety initiatives within a tertiary academic hospital in Canada. As a member of the CPSI for 6 years as a project manager, director and senior director she was responsible for the development and implementation of several projects, programs and national strategies including the PSEP – Canada program.
She is currently working on a PhD at Queen’s University. Her thesis work is focused on the experience of healthcare providers in adverse events/patient safety incidents.
