Karla Horon is passionate about promoting patient safety across Canada. Since joining CPSI in April 2012, she has held a senior role in the communications team supporting the research and education portfolios. She has also been the lead on Canadian Patient Safety Week, a national campaign that inspires extraordinary improvement in patient safety and quality. As of October 2013, her focus has shifted to marketing the products and services of Canadian Patient Safety Institute. Karla continues to support the communications team in a role that meets the needs of the healthcare industry by ensuring that healthcare professionals have the right tools and resources they need at the right time to make care safer.
She brings to CPSI over 16 years of healthcare experience in the franchise pharmacy field. In her previous roles with Medicine Shoppe Canada, a Katz Group company, Karla’s focus was on developing health and wellness programs to help professional pharmacists promote healthy lifestyles to their patients. Her dedication to health promotion is insurmountable.
Karla is a University of Alberta graduate with a degree in commerce, specializing in marketing.
Karla enjoys spending time with her pride and joy, her children. When she’s not shuffling them to and from their activities, they can be found walking their dog at the local dog park.
She is committed to safe healthcare for all Canadians, and enjoys the rewarding work at the Canadian Patient Safety Institute.
