Patient Safety Improvement Lead
Dannie Currie is the Patient Safety Improvement Lead for the ‘Canadian Patient Safety Officer Course’ and the ‘Effective Governance for Quality and Patient Safety’. He has worked in patient safety since August 2006 when he joined the Safer Healthcare Now! campaign as a Safety Improvement Advisor for the Atlantic Region. Dannie has worked as a Registered Nurse in various settings and capacities since 1985 including Staff Nurse in Mental Health and Long Term Care, Head Nurse in Addictions Services, and Director of Nursing in Acute Care Services, Diabetic Education, and Infection Control.
He graduated from St. F.X.U. with a Bachelor of Arts degree, St. Rita School of Nursing with a Diploma in Nursing, Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Nursing degree and a Diploma in Health Services Administration, and Memorial University with a Master of Nursing degree, Nursing Administration. Dannie received his Certified Health Executive designation from the Canadian College of Health Leaders in 2012. Currently in the role of Patient Safety Improvement Lead, Dannie’s passion is for working with partners, boards, and safety leaders to build system capability for improving the safety and quality of healthcare services
