Canadian Patient Safety Institute staff are mourning Dr. Jack Tu, an internationally renowned cardiologist and professor, who passed away on May 30.
CPSI would like to acknowledge the great contribution that Dr. Jack Tu made to patient safety in Canada. As the Safer Healthcare Now! lead responsible for development of the Acute Myocardial Infarction clinical bundle and SHN Getting Started Kit, Dr. Tu was our initial point of contact to establish a pan-Canadian faculty to assist in our work and to shape the appropriate clinical care protocols and measures based on best practise and international consensus guidelines. Without Jack's instrumental leadership, the AMI initial and updated Getting Started Kits, educational programs, measurement support and updates based on new research evidence would not have been realized.
As so many have said, Jack made lives better for countless people. We believe he also made lives safer for countless patients across the healthcare continuum. A wonderful colleague who will be deeply missed.
