Dr. Chaim Bell of St. Michael’s Hospital (Toronto, Ontario) sits in the Applied Health Services and Policy Chair in Patient Safety in Community-Based settings for his proposal “Continuity of care between hospital and long-term care (LTC) facilities among seniors.” This is a partnered initiative with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Institute of Health Services, and Policy Research.
The chair augments the Canadian Patient Safety Institute’s investment in more than 50 peer-reviewed applied research and demonstration patient safety projects to help build capacity and broaden knowledge in patient safety.
The chair is a focal point for research on factors that impact safe care delivery in community-based settings and methods for uptake of best practices by health system managers and policy makers. In addition, the chair trains and mentors students, fellows, junior faculty, and others seeking career opportunities in this field.
