Projects funded must have patient safety as primary focus.

Patient safety is defined as:

the reduction and mitigation of unsafe acts within the healthcare system rather than from the patient’s underlying illness, as well as through the use of best practices shown to improve patient safety outcomes (adapted from The Canadian Patient Safety Dictionary, October 2003).

Patient Safety Issues in First Nations, Inuit and Métis
The CPSI is interested in commissioning research that will ultimately form a background paper to address the issues of patient safety as it applies to the delivery of safer health care to First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.
