Senior Advisor, National Partners
Working out of the Ottawa office, Pierrette is responsible for liaising with national health organizations, Health Canada, and other relevant federal departments, and for supporting CPSI’s CEO in the Ottawa office as a senior bilingual presence in Ottawa. She is also project lead on two CPSI initiatives: bar-coding, and dissemination of and stakeholder engagement for The Safety Competencies.
Pierrette has been involved in the healthcare field for over 30 years. Her most recent position before joining CPSI in April 2005 was with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as public affairs officer in the CEO’s office. Prior to this, she was director of communications for the Nova Scotia Division of the Canadian Cancer Society. Accredited in public relations, Pierrette also has a background in both social work and teaching.
Pierrette's involvement with patient safety began in 2001, with her appointment as project manager for the National Steering Committee on Patient Safety. Seconded for one year from the Royal College, Pierrette administered the steering committee and working groups. The committee’s final report, presented in September 2002, recommended the creation of CPSI.
