Safety Improvement Advisor
Dannie Currie joined the Safer Healthcare Now! Campaign in August 2006 as the Safety Improvement Advisor for the Atlantic Region. Dannie has worked as a Registered Nurse in various settings and capacities since 1985 including Staff Nurse in Mental Health and Long Term Care, Head Nurse in Addictions Services and Director of Nursing in Acute Care Services, Diabetic Education, and Infection Control. He graduated from St. F.X.U. with a Bachelor of Arts, St Rita School of Nursing with a Diploma in Nursing, Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Nursing and a Diploma in Health Services Administration, and Memorial University with a Master of Nursing in 2006. Nursing Administration, Change, and Care Delivery Models were the focus of his graduate work. Since joining the SHN! Team he has completed the inaugural Canadian Patient Safety Officer program and the Continuous Quality Improvement for Healthcare Professionals from the Canadian Healthcare Association. Dannie’s currents passion is working with teams and organizations to improve the safety and quality of healthcare services.
