Project Manager
Carrie is a Registered Nurse who has had experience in a variety of roles over the past thirty years including administrator, change agent, investigator, clinician, educator, consultant, patient care advocate and student. Carrie has worked in a variety of healthcare environments including Academic/Tertiary and Community Hospitals, Public Health, The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Ontario Hospital Association.
Prior to joining the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI), Carrie was the Patient Safety Manager at Mount Sinai Hospital since January 2008, having previously held a number of nursing leadership roles in the hospital. During her tenure as Patient Safety Manager, Carrie spearheaded a number of initiatives including the development of Patient Safety Leadership Walkarounds, developing and delivering patient safety education programs for staff, assisting with policy development and implementing key patient safety practices throughout the hospital.
Building on Carrie’s experience, passion for quality and patient safety, as well as her quest for life- long learning, she graduated with a Master’s of Health Science (MHSc) degree in Administration from the Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation program at the University of Toronto in June 2011. In addition, Carrie has achieved the designation of Canadian Health Executive and has recent training in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt for healthcare. Carrie is currently a core member with the Faculty of Medicine’s Centre for Patient Safety, at the University of Toronto.
In Carrie’s new role as Project Manager with CPSI, she welcome’s the opportunity to design and deliver patient safety improvement programs to support the established priorities in the province. Carrie will also support national CPSI initiatives related to effective governance and executive leadership for quality and safety.
