Édouard Hendriks is the Vice President, Medical and Academic Affairs, of Horizon Health Network in New Brunswick since September 2008. Before, he was the CEO of New Brunswick’s Regional Health Authority 4 since 2001 and its Vice President, Medical Affairs, since 1997. Dr. Hendriks has also held different clinical and administrative positions with various organizations such as the Canadian Armed Forces and institutions in Québec, Ontario and New Brunswick. Before moving to New Brunswick, he spent several years as director of professional services at the Centre hospitalier de Gatineau. Dr. Hendriks obtained his medical degree from the Université Laval in Québec. He holds a certificate in family medicine and a special certificate in emergency medicine, both from the College of Family Physicians of Canada, as well as being a Fellow of the College. He has a Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Ottawa. His clinical interests lie mainly in critical care and emergency medicine. In the field of administration, he is interested in utilization management, information management, best practices in medicine and quality improvement processes in a multidisciplinary environment. He sits on numerous provincial committees in New Brunswick in the area of improvement of the provincial healthcare system. He is also involved with various organizations at the national level, and is a surveyor for Accreditation Canada since 1993.
